Ostheimer wins second career Late Model race

Driver press release by Blakesley Sports Media

MORGAN HILL, CALIFORNIA (April 20, 2012) 18 year-old Late Model racer Devon Ostheimer of Morgan Hill, CA won his second career Late Model feature on Saturday night, topping a nearly 40 car turnout to win at Havasu 95 Speedway as the undercard for that night's "Toyota / NAPA Auto Parts 150" weekend.  Ostheimer won against a field comprised of drivers from throughout the Southwest in front of a standing room only crowd at the quarter-mile asphalt bullring in Arizona.
Ostheimer finished sixth in the 2011 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Models points at TOYOTA Speedway in Irwindale, CA, picking up a win in his rookie season.  Ostheimer previously raced winged Sprint Cars at his home track Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA before making the transition to pavement stock car racing.
Saturday's event was Ostheimer's first aboard the Team RBK (Race Cars by Kuhn) #5 Chevrolet and in his first time ever racing at Havasu95 Speedway.

"It felt good to win with 39 cars entering and in our first race in a new car at a new track and also with a new team," Ostheimer said.  "We are going to race all over the West Coast this year until Irwindale and Kern County open up.  This really sets our season off on the right foot!"

Ostheimer started the weekend off by qualifying fourth which gave him the pole position for the scheduled 50 lap feature after a four car invert.  From the pole, Ostheimer defended from NASCAR K&N Pro Series veteran Michael Self over a series of restarts and red flags.

Self nearly took the lead from Ostheimer at the midpoint of the race before it was slowed again by a caution period.  Eventually, the race was red flagged and called early after 31 laps of both green and yellow flags.

Despite the abbreviated race, Ostheimer was still pleased to take the main event win against such a strong field and during a prestigious event.

Devon Ostheimer thanks Team RBK, MDR Machine, and EF-65 Hand Cleaner for their support of his 2012 racing campaign.  The Team RBK #5w that Ostheimer drove to victory at Havasu is available for rent throughout the season and interested parties can contact devon.ostheimer@gmail.com for information.
